Recently, nyris, Plug and Play and APX partnered up, in anticipation for the Oktoberfest celebrations, for an event filled with interesting perspectives on the current market climate, innovative start-up pitches and plenty of networking opportunities.
The event was kicked off by Caroline Wais, Anna Lukasson, and Mor Eini, giving us an overview of the current start-up environment in Germany and the investment opportunities in this time of crisis. Much like in 2008, the current economic challenges offer alternative investment opportunities, especially when it comes to start-ups. It was in that entrepreneurial spirit that these three inspiring women opened the Oktoberfest networking event.
As part of its mission to connect corporations with innovative start-ups, Plug and Play hosted the event at its Munich offices, and invited guests from a wide range of industries to attend. Pre-seed startup investors APX, who are backed by Axel Springer, organized and mediated the start-up pitches.
nyris’ Leo Batista gave a talk about the value of visual data and nyris’ synthetic data project. Developed in partnership with the European Innovation Commission, the system allows industrial companies to transfer their CAD data (product designs) into visually searchable images to increase service and aftersales KPIs.
In this spirit of innovation, Webasto’s Christine Cheminay, the Keynote speaker of the night, took the stage and gave the guests an overview of the current EV market and the opportunities in the battery industries.
Following the keynote address, APX’s Mor Eini, took the stage once again and asked everybody to change seats. “Change your place, change your perspective,” she said. And it worked, standing up gets your blood running, and after sitting down next to someone else you exchange a few words and bang, she has your attention once again.
Ms. Eini then mediated the presentation of 5 start-up pitches and the feedback from the jurors Eva Teresa Harasewicz from Siemens Energy, Alois Eder from Intel, and Anne Sophie Bernard from the Messe München.
The first start-up to come on stage was Nuvo. Presented by Laura Schneider, Nuvo provides a delightful data import experience regardless of the format of your files.
Stryza’s Emin Mjumjunov, followed Nuvo presenting the agile software platform from Stryza, that enables industrial manufacturing workers to work more autonomously and productively.
Julian Speckmaier brought Recoro on stage. A system that understands sales conversations just like a human, helping your sales teams to win more deals, increase customer insights and build long-lasting relationships.
Lukas Rintelen presented Tucan and how they provide unique insights into your communication by transcribing, organising and summarising conversations for your company.
Benjamin Gosse closed the night of presentations with Synsor’s intelligent quality assurance systems which are based on the prevention of systematic errors in industrial production.
The presentations were then followed by a typical Bavarian dinner, with lots of networking and obviously, beer! After hearing so many different concepts and digesting so much information, it was time to get to know each other on a more personal level and talk about building partnerships.
